Using public libraries to build data literacy amongst women

There is an increasing need for communities to produce and use data to better inform policy making and engage in civic action and dialogue. Just as public libraries have worked to support reading literacy and technology literacy, libraries can also help ensure that all groups have the capacity to use data to address community-relevant issues. The University of Washington’s Information school explores the role of public libraries to assist women in building data literacy to facilitate civic engagement.
