Using Facebook’s Disaster Maps to understand how men and women are displaced differently
Big data can fill the gap in understanding how populations are affected after a natural disaster. As part of its Disaster Maps product suite, Facebook’s Gender Disaggregated Displacement Maps provide insights on how women and men are displaced differently after disasters. In addition to providing gender insights, the maps can be generated within 24 hours of a natural disaster, and the data are updated daily.
