The role of education administrative data in monitoring menstrual health and hygiene

Traditional indicators on enrollment, participation, graduation, and exam results may not be sufficient to understand the full scope of girls’ education outcomes. To further understand education outcomes of girls, UNICEF developed a guide for monitoring menstrual health and hygiene. The guide includes how EMIS can include questionnaires on menstrual health and hygiene – such as knowledge of students and teaching staff, along with the presence of sanitation facilities and services.
