Approaches and methods to measure economic empowerment of women and girls

What are the ways of measuring the economic empowerment of women and girls? An article for Gender & Development Journal reviews 70 development interventions which had impacts on the economic empowerment of women and girls. The article recommends developing a mixed – qualitative and quantitative – approach in measuring economic empowerment. A mixed-method approach is not only important in filling the gender data gap, but it also ensures that different dimensions of women’s economic empowerment are captured.
