Women are key agents of agricultural transformation in developing countries, but various obstacles can limit their contributions.
This database is the first comprehensive and standardized measure to directly measure women’s economic and inclusion in the agricultural sector.
Launched by IFPRI, Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI), and USAID’s Feed the Future in 2012, the database is composed of two sub-indices:
- One measures women’s empowerment across five domains in agriculture.
- One measures gender parity in empowerment within the household.
