The role of expert groups in improving time use statistics

Expert groups play a unique role in improving the quality and scope of official statistics, especially around time use data. UNSD and UN Expert Group on Innovative and Effective Ways to Collect Time-Use Statistics is developing solutions to modernize time-use data in line with international standards and the SDGs. Currently, the expert group is finalizing documents on the modernization and digitalization of time use data, data quality issues, and the harmonized instruments. While the expert group does not have a specific focus on gender, it is important to analyze time use data from a gender lens to understand how women and men use their time differently.
