The role of call detail records in providing insights into women’s empowerment

Mobile phone data (call detail records) are a data solution in providing insights for women’s economic empowerment. CGIAR assessed the potential of using call detail records to predict the sex and economic empowerment of mobile phone users. Results from the study illustrate that call detail records could be used for targeting development programs and to monitor gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.
