Reporting health data by ethnicity

While sex-disaggregated data on health provide insights on how women and men are impacted, it is also missing other pieces, such as ethnicity, geographic location, income. To improve the quality of health data, household health surveys should include a marker on ethnicity (or language and geographic location) to further understand health issues from an intersectional lens. To establish trust with marginalized groups, data collectors have a role in establishing outreach programs to sensitize marginalized groups to the benefits of self-identification and disaggregated data.
