Providing better disaggregated data on femicides
Open data on femicide allows civil society groups to understand the quality and underlying gaps of these data. In the context of Brazil, ARTICLE 19 Brazil found that femicide data lacks key disaggregations, such as race. ARTICLE 19 Brazil also analyzed nine databases that contain data on femicides, finding that most of the data analyzed does not contextualize the cases and that compromises the understanding of the crime’s dynamics.
