Harmonizing data collection standards for maternal health services

Before measuring the quality of care for women and newborns, it is important to understand what existing surveys and tools measure. An article featured on The Lancet assesses five surveys and tools, finding that none of the tools are able to effectively and comprehensively measure the quality of sexual and reproductive healthcare. Therefore, to improve the quality of sexual and reproductive healthcare, key recommendations include harmonizing standards, reduce duplication of data collection, and to address underused data.
