Developing quantitative measures to understand gender outcomes associated with WASH
To assist practitioners and researchers in assessing changes in gender outcomes associated with water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs for women and men, the Institute for Sustainable Futures at the University of Technology Sydney developed the WASH Gender Equality Measure. The measure has five domains incorporating 18 themes, based on empirical evidence, practical experience and academic literature: resources, well-being, agency, critical consciousness and structures. So far, it has been piloted in Cambodia and in Nepal.
