Developing a gender-sensitive measurement of multidimensional poverty

Data on poverty often have a gender data gap– oftentimes, data on poverty is typically measured at the household level rather than the individual level. Developed by Equality Insights, the Individual Deprivation Measure, is a survey tool that assesses 15 socio-economic dimensions of multidimensional deprivation, along with sampling every adult member in the household. The Individual Deprivation Measure can be used by national statistical office in producing individual-level poverty data; it can also be used by policy makers and advocates, helping them to target poverty more effectively and achieve SDG 1.
