Considering sex and gender beyond the COVID-19 pandemic
Global statistics on COVID-19 show that more men are dying from acute infection, while women are projected to suffer more in the long term from health, and socio-economic consequences from the pandemic. Sex-disaggregated data on COVID-19 are critical in developing innovative solutions beyond health, such as re-entry strategies, product development, and AI solutions. As countries emerge from the pandemic, they should consider sex and gender in these innovations.
