Conducting education surveys to understand students’ schooling decisions
Existing education indicators mainly focus on the student body, participation in schools, student outcomes, teachers, and school facilities. While these indicators are critical, there is a gap in understanding the agency of students. In 2015, Moldova conducted its first-ever Job and Schooling Decision Survey, with the objective of understanding high school aged students on the factors that shape their educational and occupational decisions. Since the survey collects data on sex, it is possible to understand gender implications of making school and occupational-related decisions.
