Improving the financial health of women and other low-income customers requires an understanding of their savings behavior.

To get a clearer picture on women’s savings behavior, Diamond Bank and Women’s World Banking partnered to create the BETA savings account, a digital savings account geared toward self-employed Nigerian women and designed without the barriers associated with Diamond Bank’s typical banking procedures.

This report analyzes transaction-level data of all Diamond BETA customers — representing over 600,000 accounts and ~40% women — and BETA Friend agents to understand: 1) how customers engage with digital financial services and 2) how well agents are serving customers.
